Policy 9: Coaches (NEW 2025)

POLICY 9 COACHES

To be considered for a coaching position within the Lakeland Lacrosse Association (LLA), all applicants must complete the following requirements:

9.01 Application Requirements

All coaching applicants must:

• Register through the RAMP system as a team official for the appropriate division.
• Submit a current Criminal Record Check (CRC) including Vulnerable Sector Search to the LLA Registrar or Coaching Director.
• Hold the required coaching certification as per the Alberta Lacrosse Association (ALA) and National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) standards for the division they are applying to coach.

9.02 Selection Criteria

Meeting the above application requirements does not guarantee selection for a coaching position or a preferred team assignment. All coach selections are subject to the following considerations:

• Completion and submission of all required documentation.
• Previous coaching experience and history with LLA or other lacrosse associations.
• Coaching certification level and commitment to continuing education.
• Alignment with LLA’s values, Code of Conduct, and athlete development philosophy.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches, managers, and LLA officials.
• Needs of the division and number of teams declared.

9.03 Review & Appointment

• All applications will be reviewed by the LLA Executive Assistant and/or an appointed Coach Selection Committee.
• Coaches will be appointed by the LLA Board based on the best interest of the players, teams, and the overall development program.
• Selected coaches will be notified in writing and may be required to attend a pre-season orientation or training session.
